It's nice to be featured

The lovely VividTexture has featured one of my pieces on her blog - AutumnOlive - check it out!

I've been working on some fluorescent pieces lately - light has always fascinated me, and the mixing of colors under UV is an art in itself.

I did a series 10 years ago in phosphorescent and I really wanted to revisit this medium.
My wife has taken to taking random pictures of our daughters toy - something about framing them for her room...but some of the photos are really interesting so I took one of them as inspiration for this piece.

The only issue is that I had originally planned to put this piece in my daughter's room until it sold - but the paint I used on the eyes retains light so well that they glow long after the rest has dimmed - and my wife says glowing eyes aren't good for two year olds....

Music Video Painting

Last week I started a process which has been a long time coming. I've always been interested in time - lapse photography as way to document my progress - but until now the time and resources to put it into a
ction have eluded me.

I've never been one to do things small - if something's worth doing, I'm going to do it as big and as brilliantly as I can - and this is just
the start.

Since this time last year, Ben, Joey and I have been working on recording our third album, and due to family and work commitments it's been slow going. But we're in the last stages now, and will be doing our final recording session in February.

This has given me the impetuous to get rocking.

I spent the weekend before building the giant canvasses that would become the home to this new work - and, setting up on one of the coldest nights of the year, salamander burning, and oil paint in the air, artists Abbey Rubin, Benjamin Bruton and I set to work with four cameras continually recording our work.

With the help of my lovely wife - Siobhan of Blythe Hopes Vintage - we're starting to get a sense of how it's going to turn out.
